A Commitment

"If you want something out of your day, you must put something into it. Your talent is what God put in you before you were born. Your skills are what you put in yesterday. Commitment is what you must put in today in order to make today your masterpiece and make tomorrow a success." --John C. Maxwell "Today Matters"

What have you committed your life to? What motivates you? What are your passions? Are you doing something today that you are committed to? I made a list of my commitments that I'd like to share:

* To help people build wealth and financial freedom through real estate investing
* To help people realize their dream of owning a home in San Diego
* To create awareness that children need art and creativity in their lives
* To motivate and inspire business owners/potential business owners to pursue their dreams

Making People Happy

I've been away for awhile, although the time has flown by pretty fast. I've been busy with my real estate business, making jewelry for a friend's wedding, and making jewelry in general. It's spring time so people are coming out of the woodworks wanting a new investment property or a new accessory to add to their new spring wardrobe. When it comes down to it, you could say I'm in the business of making people happy! :)

I've come across some condos/homes in San Diego in the $250K range, which I thought didn't exist anymore. My feeling is that the market is beginning to level off. There's been talk of it really starting to slow down. Only time will tell. I think it's a great time to buy investment properties because there is a growing demand for rentals in San Diego.

I find pure joy in helping people find a home that they thought they could never buy. As the old saying goes, "Where there's a will, there's a way." Keep hope alive!

Persist and You Will Succeed

As an entrepreneur I've learned the valuable lesson of persisting until you reach your goal. I'll illustrate this by telling you about my experience this weekend selling my jewelry and art. Three ladies came to my booth very excited about my jewelry. They picked out quite a few pieces. Two ladies purchased similar necklaces, but one piece was longer than the other. One lady requested that I adjust the necklace so that it could be the same length as the one her friend bought. I informed her that I didn't have my tools with me to shorten the necklace. Her friends asked me more questions, so I helped them select other necklaces. She told me again that she needed it shortened and again I told her that I could not do it for her. By this time my booth was very busy and I was selling pieces left and right. Once again the "I need this shorter" lady requested a third time. Finally, an idea hit me. I offered to shorten it for her and deliver it to her. She was very happy with this idea and told me to bring any other new pieces that I make so that she may buy more.

Although the roles were reversed where the customer persisted until she got what she wanted, as business people or human beings we must do the same. Keep going and keep your eye on the prize. You'll eventually get what you want. It's guaranteed.

In hindsight, I realize that this is also a lesson on customer service. Sometimes you will have to go out of your way to do something for a customer, but the payoff is endless. I may get some referrals out of it :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common that unsuccessful individuals with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius Is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. --Ray Kroc
My Dream Home
I have claimed this home as mine. Last Friday I was browsing a homes-for-sale magazine and came across this Tuscan Villa in Rancho Santa Fe. Rancho Santa Fe claims to be the wealthiest zip code in America. I was actually in this home last Christmas helping out with their holiday decorating.
They say that when you want something in life you should visualize that it is already yours. Picture yourself in detail living the life you deserve. What are you wearing? What are you doing?
Spring has Sprung!
The days are longer and my energy is at an all-time high. I've been working out every day and been reading a new motivational book, "True Success: A New Philosophy of Excellence" by Tom Morris which has given me the inspiration to keep pursuing my dream with real estate. The book shows you how to find fulfillment in business and personal relationships.
I've been caught in a rut and haven't been prospecting like I should be. I had a meeting with a new broker who really inspires me and I think he is really sincere about helping me become successful. He re-ignited my passion for helping others. What better way to build wealth than real estate? If I can just instill that thought in my clients' heads.
So today I got on the phone and did the positive self-talk, "You can do it! You can do it! Keep going! Don't stop!" Now I just need to do that every day :)
Let Go...and Let God
Little by little I'm learning to let go. It's hard to just let go, but what's the point of worrying? Worrying does nothing but give you head ache, heart ache, and stomach ache. Worrying brings unwelcoming wrinkles and white hairs.
I find myself meditating and praying more, which has helped significantly. I've become more at peace with my life. I'm learning to see the positive in all that happens. The less I worry, the more my trust in God is strengthened. The more I pray, the happier I become.
I'm more aware now of my conversations with friends and realizing just how negative they are. They worry so much about the future. Tomorrow is not promised. Be happy with what you have today and ENJOY IT. Don't spend so much time thinking about what may happen that you don't even realize what's happening right now at this very minute.
As humans we tend to think of the worst case scenario first. Why is that?
Butterflies Have Taken Over!
I was greeted by a swarm of butterflies today as I took an afternoon walk to the store. What a blissful sight they were! The combination of the warm weather, clear sky, and colorful butterflies made my heart flutter... I can feel good things coming :) Good things have actually began to happen. The Universe has brought prosperous people into my life who will help me with my success.
With spring in the air comes more activity in the real estate market. Looking forward to a few sales in the next couple months...
I've finally grasped the concept of the power of positive thinking. My own wings are beginning to grow...
