ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

Is This Art?

I attended a gallery reception the other night to write an article about collecting art. The event entitled, "AROUSE Yourself with Art: Collecting Secrets Revealed" is hosted by the San Diego Visual Artists Network (SDVAN). This presentation was the first of a three part seminar which helps the beginning art collector decide what type of art to choose. As an artist I learned a bit about the different criteria collectors use to buy art for his/her collection.

A question in my mind was dominant throughout the night - "What IS art?" This thought began at the beginning of the night with the dynamic performance by Pruitt Igoe. An eclectic blend of opera, instrumental, and spoken word that touched every part of my soul.

So, what is art? What I've come to personally know is that art and beauty are certainly in the eyes of the beholder. But to see the beauty in everything is an art in itself.

Prosperity and Living With Purpose - Part 2

Prosperity is available to everyone on this earth. It’s a matter of learning how to tap into the Source. I don’t mean prosperity in the sense of financial matters (although I will talk about this too), but prosperity in terms of living a purposeful life, having loving relationships, and being fulfilled within. To achieve prosperity, a foundation of trust must be laid out. Keeping with a positive mind-set is 50% of the battle. Trusting that everything happens in perfect time is the other 50%.

When you live your life with purpose, nothing but prosperity will result. You give to others without expecting anything in return. You know that what you are doing right now is what you are meant to be doing. Just like I am sitting at my computer right now writing this article to help you learn what it means to be prosperous. This is what I am meant to be doing. I am not getting paid for it, but I truly enjoy every second of it! I am giving a part of me in hopes that you too can lead the life you want.

Act as if you are already prosperous. It took me awhile to grasp this concept. Remember when you were a little kid and you pretended to be whatever you
wanted? It’s pretty much the same thing. Act as if you already have everything that you need. Once you establish this prosperity mindset, you will begin to act in prosperous ways.

The most common word I hear from my friends is: “broke”. Cut this word out of your vocabulary. Know that God is providing you with everything you need right at this moment. Whenever you begin to worry about money, say to yourself, “God is providing me with everything I need right now.” You may need to say it a few times for it to sink in. Like I said before, keeping a positive attitude is half of the battle.

If your relationship with friends or loved ones is rocky, change your attitude towards them. Picture in your mind what kind of relationship you want with that person. Begin to act towards that person the way you want to be treated. Positive energy eventually dissipates negative energy.

A prosperous person focuses on the process rather than the outcome. The outcome has already been created in your mind. How you go through the process and handle the challenges you face as well as enjoying and sharing what talent is given to you is all part of that process. You are making history and creating memories to share with future generations. Enjoy and live in the moment!

In a society where the outcome or bottom-line is highly regarded and how we got there does not matter, it’s no wonder we are always in a rush. We acquire all these possessions, yet still feel unfulfilled inside.

A prosperous person is grateful for everything that shows up in life. Give thanks everyday for all the good that comes to you. The more thanks you give, the more you will receive. Many of us complain about our jobs, lack of money, bad relationships, etc. Doing this is saying that you don’t like what you have been given. Whenever I start to feel down about a perceived bad situation, I always think about the millions of people in the world who don’t even know where their next meal is coming from.

Be generous and give yourself away. All of us have been given gifts. What you do with those gifts is what really matters. What are you doing to help others? Know that the more of yourself that you give away unselfishly, the more you will receive in return.

Change Your Perspective of Life

I've changed the title of this blog a couple times because I came to realize that I was beginning to write more and more about what it is to live a "good life". I originally began this blog to promote my art and real estate business. Now I feel something else calling me...

I feel compelled to share with the world what I've learned through my spiritual mentor, Marilyn Jenett, and from reading Dr. Wayne Dyer's books. I've learned a great deal about prosperity and surrendering myself to the Universe. I know that it's hard to go against the grain and not do what everybody else is doing, but the payoff is tremendous. Talk about thinking outside the box! I've never been one to follow the crowd, so when I began learning prosperity principles it was easy for me to grasp. Not that I followed these teachings because it was "different", but I felt that it just felt natural for me.

They say that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. This could not be any truer for me. I was ready for a change financially and also ready to take my spirituality to the next level.

Prosperity and Living With Purpose - Part I

I believe that prosperity is available for everyone in this world. Yes, EVERYONE has the ability to create prosperity for themselves. I don’t mean prosperity in the sense of acquiring possessions such as fancy cars, big homes, even bigger bank accounts, etc., but prosperity in terms of having a life that is purposeful and full of meaning. Believe me, money will start to pour in once you realize what your purpose is in life and you begin to follow your dreams.

Change Your Attitude

Creating a prosperous life begins with changing your attitude and your thoughts. The first step to a life of prosperity is realizing that the Universe is full of abundance and whatever you want is waiting for you to claim it. You have the power within yourself to become prosperous. Begin by saying to yourself, “I am entitled to a life of prosperity. I AM prosperous. I AM wealthy.” Say this to yourself when you catch yourself feeling stressed or anxious about money or when thoughts or feelings of scarcity cross your mind. Keep saying this to yourself and pretty soon you’ll begin to feel prosperous!

Take inventory of your thoughts throughout the day. The average person has thousands of thoughts a day. For many years thoughts of not having enough money crossed my mind almost every hour. I worried so much about my lack of money that I did not even enjoy what I did have like my health, a roof over my head, and a car to get me to work.
Give thanks for what you have right now and most of all, enjoy it! Know that you have a secret Accountant who is watching over you and making sure that all your needs are being met.

When I talk to most people and ask how life is going for them, most people respond, “Well you know, life is OK. I’m just getting by and trying to survive.” If that is what your attitude is towards life, that’s how your life will be and your life will never change. Be careful of what you say to people about your current situation. Most people measure their lives according to the size of their bank account and then tell everyone how broke they are.

It’s time to change your belief system. Believe that you have a right to lead a life of purpose and prosperity. Believe that you can have everything you want. Believe it and do not let doubt or fear creep into your thoughts. These poisonous thoughts have a sneaky way of entering your mind. Be aware of them and say, “Stop!”
