Destined to Be Wealthy or Choosing To Be Wealthy?

From the time I was about eleven years old, I wanted to be a Psychologist. My best friend (who still is one of my very best friends til this day) said she wanted to be a Psychologist and because it sounded like a fancy thing to do, I decided I wanted to become a Psychologist as well.

Well, I ended up with a degree in Psychology, but funny thing - my very last semester of college I decided that I didn't want to become a psychologist anymore. I had no idea what I wanted to do...All I knew was that I wanted to have my own business. Doing what? I wasn't sure. I also knew that I had a great deal of soul searching to do myself. How could I even begin to analyze other people when I couldn't even get my own mind straight? How could I advise people on how to handle their own life situations when I couldn't even get my own feelings and emotions in check?

The reason I bring this up is because I've been thinking about how "things happen for a reason". There must be a reason why I have that Psychology degree. Am I destined to do things in the realm of psychology and self-development? Or was that simply training on how to become a more compassionate and understanding person?

My step-mother told me that if it was "meant for me to be rich", it will happen. If not - oh, well. However, that didn't sit well with me. Are we meant to become rich? Is it destiny? Or is it something that we choose to be?

I toy with these ideas because I used to be a person who believed that things do happen for a reason. Perhaps we do have this destiny. However, now I realize that we do have free will and we make these choices based on what we want to do. Our fate isn't decided for us. Some may argue that well, people don't just choose to die. However, I don't believe that. Perhaps they've just decided that Earth wasn't connecting with them spiritually and have decided to go elsewhere. Anyways, that's a whole other topic beyond what I want to talk about right now ;)

Anyways, the point I want to make is: It's up to you to decide whether or not you want to be wealthy, healthy, and live a prosperous life. There is no "if it's meant to be". The Universe will give it to you if you want it. You just have to claim it!

What a great observation. I refer to people as purposefully poor or willingly wealthy often.

Some times, the first step is to make the commitment to wealth, then learning what yu need to do to attain it.

I completely agree - we do have to first decide that we want want and then commit to attaining it. Most of all, we have to allow and accept it when it does come!
