I turned on the TV today and one of my favorite musical artists, Justin Timberlake, was on Oprah. Now mind you, I am not the type of person who gets "star struck", but something about Justin Timberlake makes me wanna throw my panties at the TV ;)
Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson were on the Oprah show too - two other artists that I've admired for quite some time. Reba sang duets with Kelly and Justin - songs of substance! (Buy Reba Duets at Amazon)
So, what do these three super-stars have in common? They've stayed grounded despite their rise to fame. What's interesting is that all of them come from "The South". Oprah mentioned that it's not hard to stay grounded if you come from that region. Reba, Kelly, and Justin all managed to not let the wealth and riches get to their heads. When it comes down to it, we're all the same - which was the message I took away from watching this show.
When you live out in the country, you get a good sense of what's most important in life - like friends and family. Also, because there really is no night life in small towns, you stay home more and have time to reflect and become closer to The Universe. I'm speaking from experience because I grew up in a wee town just outside of Fresno, California. My best friend and I spent many a night gazing out at the stars and talking about life...
What has kept you grounded?
