Coping With "Death"

I put "death" in parenthesis because I really don't believe that anybody "dies". Cars die. Batteries die. People don't die. I believe that the soul leaves the body and travels into another realm.

The first month of 2007 is about to end and already I've had to say farewell to two people I know. It's enough to make some people go crazy and create a spiral of fear and depression, but I'm a pretty resilient person. Even when my mother passed right before I was to start high school, I was still able to stay focused and eventually graduate at the top of my class. That's what she wanted me to do and I did it.

We are all put on this earth because we have a mission. We each have a purpose, "so nobody's life or death is ever in vain". Incidentally, the other night I caught the ending of the movie, "War of the Worlds" and heard that line. God meant for me to hear that.

Some people's stay on this earth is short and for others, it's a little bit longer. When we journey to another place, it simply means that we've fulfilled our mission here. God says it's time for us to go do better things. I've come to accept this.

Two days ago on January 28th it was my mother's birthday. She would have been 56 in Earth years. Farewell, mama. Two days ago was also the day I found out about the tragic killing of "Little Pat". Farewell, lil' Pat. One week ago we buried Grandpa Jack. Farewell, Grandpa Jack.

Happy travels!

No Limits...No Boundaries...No Rules

Today I spent some time with my two-year-old Goddaughter and we made greeting cards together. (By the way, I have some new Valentine's Day cards uploaded!) I don’t know about you, but I love to watch children when they’re creating art. They get so lost in the moment and they just create with no limits...no boundaries...no rules. The closest I get to feeling that way is when I’m working on an abstract painting. It’s a wonderful feeling ;)

That’s how we should feel when we’re creating our own destinies. There should be no limits...no boundaries...no rules. Who says that you can only make $50,000 a year? Who says that you have to work hard in order to make alot of money? Who says you have to be rich to live a happy life?

Somehow we get bombarded and are affected by what society says our life should be. They want us to be stuck in their own reality and try to tell us to think “realistically”, but what is “reality” anyways? Everyone has their view of reality. Don’t limit yourself because of someone else’s view of life.

Your Pennies Could Be Worth More!

For those of you who are working on your "Double Your Way to a Million" project, this is good news! I came across this article from Reuters that says that the rising cost of metals such as copper and nickel means that your pennies could be worth up to five times more than its face value!

I'm sure that many of you who are working on the DYWTOM project have found tons of pennies on the ground - I know I have! This means that you are that much closer to your goal ;) How exciting is that?

Progress Report: Double Your Way to a Million

For those of you who have been keeping up on my Double Your Way to a Million efforts, I just wanted to give you an update....

I’m up to $4.89 now!

For awhile I wasn’t coming across anything, but I started this affirmation a couple weeks ago:

“Money comes to me easily and effortlessly.”

Ever since I started saying that to myself, I’ve been finding all kinds of change on the ground! Now I’ve changed the affirmation to:

“Large amounts of money come to me easily and effortlessly.”

I’m excited to see what will come next ;)

By the way, I came across this post that offers a great tip to help you feel more abundant and prosperous....Who knew a piggy bank would make you rich!

Are You Feeling Prosperous Today?

I’ve been reading the book, Ask and It Is Given, by Esther and Jerry Hicks. This book is phenomenal! Ok, so I know about the Law of Attraction and how it works, but this book gives you the tools and exercises you can do to really manifest what you want in life.

In this book I’ve learned how to change my vibrational energy and how to create those emotions of being prosperous. It’s this feeling...a feeling of bliss and complete joy. Can you feel it?

Have you ever imagined what it would be like if you won the lotto? If you haven’t, do that now. Close your eyes and feel it! Take a deep breath and feel the weight lift off your shoulders. Feel your body relax and feel the joy circulating throughout your whole body. Feel the energy! It’s the good feeling that you create that sets everything into motion so that you start to see abundance and prosperity appearing in your life.

So, are you feeling prosperous today?

For the Love of Music

Just wanted to give you a heads up that I have a new blog post over at No Song Unsung! I’m very excited about this blog and the business that my boyfriend and I are going to build around it. The website is still a work in progress (as is all my life!) and I don’t want to reveal all the details on it yet. However, it is pretty similar to this new website I just found out about called Unsigned.com. Unsigned.com is a place for artists and Unsigned Bands to gather and share their music. They also have a few upcoming features including a music player, playlist editor, and a CD Creator.

By the way...Shout out to Kammie of Passion Meets Purpose for spreading the news about No Song Unsung!

What song are you singing today? Did you know that music can rewire your brain for diversity?

People and Technology: Are We Too Connected?

Everywhere I turn I see people on their cell phones....talking while driving their car, talking in the line at the bank, talking while they pay for their groceries...

In terms of technology, I often wonder if we’re just too connected. Some people can’t live without checking their Blackberry for email messages. There was a time when you didn’t see me without my laptop. The other night when I went out with my boyfriend, he asked me, “Where’s your laptop?” When I told him I left it at the house, he said, “That’s like Linus leaving home without his blanket!”

Are we so obsessed with being connected that we become disconnected from what’s going on right now?

Just some food for thought...By the way, doesn't Linus look so much happier without his blanket?

Looking Back in Time

Richard Cockrum of Shards of Consciousness talks about this notion of Time Passages. As I look back in the history of my life, there are blocks of time that I don’t really remember all that much. It was a time in my life when I was working full time, going to school full time, and partying full time (How I did it, I just don’t know...) I was constantly on the go and certainly didn’t stop to smell the roses. I was too involved in the future and what I wanted to accomplish. I was a 21-year-old with a 35-year-old mind. Things to do. People to see. Goals to accomplish. It was a big blur.

As the first week of 2007 comes to an end, I’m proud to say that my memory is getting better because I’m learning to just sloooow dowwwwnnn and savor the moment. Can I remember everything I’ve done? Sure. I took long walks, enjoyed a yummy turkey croissant sandwich, took naps every day, worked less, earned more, played around with Photoshop, and visited the library. I'm learning to make friends with mystery as well!

What have you accomplished so far in 2007? Are you working on your goals on a daily basis? Are you leaving it up to The Universe to take care of the details so you can focus on enjoying your life at this moment?

How To Be More Relaxed in 2007

“You seem more relaxed,” my best friend said to me.

I do feel more relaxed. For once in my life (I was a “Type A” in a past life) I just feel so relaxed. So free. So happy.

I owe it to meditation and my daily walks. Through 43things.com, I’ve set a daily reminder to meditate everyday. Up until now I only meditated when I remembered or wasn’t too tired to. But now I’ve been meditating every morning and night and I find myself having even more energy to tackle my growing “To Do” list.

As I strolled through my neighborhood today, I breathed in the warm sunshine and noticed these branches with little red berries. The Power of Now at work!

So, what are you doing to relax more? Maybe it’s curling up with a good book or exercising at the gym...What I’ve learned is that when you relax more, you tend to get more done! When you feel overwhelmed, your brain shuts down and it sucks all that much-needed energy.
