Review: "Motivator" Software

How do you stay motivated?

Until now I’ve used little post-it notes and posted them on my computer where I can see them as I work. I tend to lose my focus sometimes so I’ve posted “Stay Focused” and every time my mind wanders I see this reminder.

Well, last night I downloaded this free motivator software called "Motivator". What it does is display these pop up messages on your computer screen. You can choose the motivating messages that you want to appear at whatever time interval you want.

I love it because I am reminded of my goals every ten minutes. I’m also reminded to sit up straight or take five deep breaths ;) You can also add your own prosperity affirmations if you prefer...

This is something I highly recommend..and best of all, it's free! A true gift from The Universe ;)

One of the Secrets to Creating Abundance

Many of you have probably watched The Secret and have been applying some of the principles you learned in this movie into your own life. And if you’re like me, you’ve probably latched onto other self-help/self-improvement programs because you feel as if there’s something missing. You’re doing the visualizing and you’re feeling good - but nothing is happening…

You’re still broke - if not more broke than you were before watching The Secret. You’ve disregarded all the hoopla and simply believe that it doesn’t work. You can’t think your way to becoming rich. It’s all hogwash.

If this sounds like you, perhaps what I’m about to tell you will give you a glimmer of hope…

One morning I awoke from a dream. I can’t remember the dream itself, but I do remember as I woke up the word “Allow” that echoed through my mind. Hmmm…what could that mean? I thought to myself.

It wasn’t until I read Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks did I realize that I wasn’t allowing the good to come into my life. I would wake up in the morning, do my visualizing and meditating, but whatever my intentions were wouldn’t show up because I would keep dwelling on those intentions throughout the day. What I didn’t realize was that by dwelling on those wants/wishes/intentions, I was actually sending a signal out to The Universe that I still lived in a state of lack - in essence, I wasn’t happy with where I was at the moment.

After you meditate and visualize in the morning, let those thoughts go and go on with your day like you normally would - just enjoying each and every moment and acting as if everything you have has already manifested in the physical dimension. In other words, fake it until you make it. We all played pretend when we were young, right? It’s the same exact thing.

This all sound so much easier said than done, I know. In fact, I sometimes forget about this concept of “allowing” myself. I’ll give you a great example…One day I think I wrote for about eleven hours. I wrote so long that my shoulders started hurting and my eyes were bloodshot from staring at the computer screen all day. I wanted so much to make more money with my writing! I had noticed that some of my articles hadn’t been picked up from publishers and some of the ad revenue for my blogs had slowed down. I felt like I should be writing more. Instead, what I was creating were these road blocks because I was acting out of fear of not having enough money.

A couple weeks ago I was tallying up my income for the past few months and did you know that I made more money during the months that I took vacations?

One of the secrets to creating abundance is to simply relax and allow wealth to come to you! Wherever you are right now, just RELAX and be happy. Stop chasing wealth. Let the Goodness flow to you. ALLOW abundance and wealth come to you easily and effortlessly.

One of my inspirations for today's post:
Easily manifest more money, more freedom, new ideas or anything else you desire…

My Epitaph

Steven Aitchison tagged me awhile back to write my own epitaph. It’s definitely a good exercise because it does put life back into perspective. Here’s what I came up with:

Maria Palma
Lived on this earth to help bring happiness to others and loves to give love. She wants nothing more than to have peace on earth and for people to realize that true happiness is found within. Maria seeks to enjoy every moment of life. She has a creative spirit and a passion for knowledge.

It’s not a mistake that I wrote this epitaph in the present tense. I don’t believe that people “die”. Their body may die, but their spirit lives on forever..and it travels to other realms…other dimensions of life. I believe that "Heaven" and "Hell" are states of mind and that we can certainly live be either place while we live here on earth.

Writing this epitaph put me in a very emotional state. I've noticed lately that I've veered off a little from my main focus in life - and that's to just enjoy the journey and follow my passions. All my issues have drifted off as I come to realize what's most important....

This Is What Happens When You Work Too Much

Ooops! For those of you who saw the mortgage article I posted here, I apologize! It was meant for my other blog, Home Solutions San Diego. I've already deleted it!!

It's 1:39 a.m. and I'm a little weary from writing all day....but I can't stop! I get all these ideas and I just keep going and going ;) However, my little boo-boo is a sign that it's time to do some meditating and go to bed...

I'll leave you with some pictures I took this afternoon - inspiring! View all the photos over at my Flickr album. Have you connected with nature lately?

Embracing the Changes in Our Lives

In our lives we are constantly faced with change - some of us experience more change than others - whether it’s a divorce in the family, a cross-country move or a different job - change happens on a daily basis.

In my own life I have faced many, many changes. My father was in the military, so we were constantly moving when I was young. Somehow it didn’t affect me too much. I actually liked the changes and loved meeting new people and exploring new places. As I grew up I actually looked forward to making changes and moving. It allowed me to gain different perspective on life and my circle of influence and connections have grown bigger and bigger.

However, what if you’re faced with a dramatic or traumatic change in your life? How do we cope with change then? When the walls start crumbling down (or so it seems) and our bodies buckle from the pressure…what do we do?

I recently finished reading a book titled Embracing Change: Transforming Life's Challenges With Courage and Grace by David Malin. It’s a book that helps you dig a little bit deeper into your soul and enables you to discover why you may be resisting change.

There is so much I learned from Embracing Change, including:
  • How to create a sense of balance between our inner states and the outer “chaotic” experiences of our lives.
  • How to be aware of the discrepancies between our actions and how we feel. A more common example of this is not being able to say “No” to something we don’t want to do, but do it anyways because the other person makes us feel guilty or we feel obligated somehow to do it.
  • How to be in tune with our spirit and emotions so that we may stand taller, have a greater presence in life and become emotionally stronger
  • Letting go of the need to be in control with every single aspect of our lives
Embracing Change is more than a “How to” book, it’s a journey into self-awareness…Highly recommended!

The Good Life Has a New Domain Name!

In an effort to create a more "professional" blog, I've decided to buy a domain name for The Good Life!

The new domain name is: www.wealth-prosperity.info (Include the "www" or it doesn't work) Please update your bookmarks and/or links!

I'm pretty excited about this change. Hopefully more people will be able to find this blog now that it has a name with a better description. "salondemaria.blogspot" just didn't fit the blog. I originally was going to use this blog as my art and jewelry blog, but as you can see it has turned into something much better!

I want to thank all of you who have supported me on this journey to wealth and freedom! Your comments and positive energy keep me inspired ;)

Good Life Quote For the Day

"Every day the path to your own spirituality starts with clarifying who you are and what you want. Not just things -- things are easy. I mean the stuff that really matters. Life isn't just about what you can have; it's about what you have to give. What kind of person do you want to be?"

Life Lessons From Dogs

As I sit here typing this, my dog is taking a snooze on his recliner (yes, he has a recliner!) Is he living the good life or what?

I wanted to do an article on lessons we can learn from our dogs, but it looks like Curt Rosengren beat me to it. So, I’ll go ahead and just share what he wrote - and be sure to check out the comments too because there are more lessons to learn there!

Also, check out another article I wrote: Why Dogs Would Make Good Customer Service Reps

I leave you with the Good Life commercial that will end this post perfectly!

Doing What You Love?

It’s the weekend and wow, it is a gloriously beautiful day here in California! I wish that everyone could experience all the great weather that we have here because it truly energizes you and helps to put you in a state of good vibrations!

Instead of sitting in front of the TV this weekend, why not hop on over to Hay House Radio. Hay House is the publisher of books like The Law of Attraction and The Power of Intention - among very inspiring books. I love listening to Esther Hicks and Wayne Dyer speak…
Making Greeting Cards
The message I’d like to spread to you today is to simply do what brings you the most joy and happiness. For once, just let go, be free like the wind and go after your hearts desire! Tune out those voices that tell you that you “have to” do this or that or else you won’t make any money --- which was what came to me today….What I really wanted to do was to sit down with a glass of wine and make greeting cards - and that’s just what I did. Oh, how great that feels to just LET GO!

Are you letting go today? Are you allowing goodness to come to you instead of chasing it?

Making Money Is An Inside Job

This article is brought to us by our friend, Saleem Rana, over at The Empowered Soul...

Do you have enough money to pay all your bills and expenses, with plenty left over?

If you're like most people, the answer, unfortunately, is no.

You're always a step behind and trying to catch up.

What is the psychological reason behind this phenomena? Or do you still think that they (whoever they are) are doing it to you? That somehow the problem lies outside yourself.

If you are willing to take responsibility for yourself, willing to accept that you are the one who is creating your experiences out of an infinite choice of experiences, than you may find the following idea insightful.

The reason you (and everyone else, too) has insufficient income is because you are resisting it. On the surface, this may sound absurd. After all, you are actively working 24/7 to make money. Yet on a subconscious level you associate pain to having more money.

Usually, this pain comes in three forms.

1. You have your parent's money script, which is based on some level of emotional pain associated with money.

2. You have to do something you dislike to earn enough. In other words, your job or income source is painful. You have to deal with unpleasant people or pursue uncomfortable experiences to make money.

3. In the past, you have been embarrassed by not having enough when you needed it. Thus, again you are associating pain with money.
A Close View of American Coin and Paper Money
In all three instances, money equals pain. It may be the pain of having too little, losing it, earning it, or spending it. Regardless of the source, what your subconscious mind registers is pain. Because it wants to keep you in control, feeling safe and approved, your subconscious mind then works on blocking the source of your pain. In this case, it keeps you from having more money. After all, it reasons, since money creates pain, the less you have of it, the better you will feel. The fact that this is simply not true is obvious to the conscious mind, but since it is only about 10% or less of your mind, it does not have that much of an impact. Instead your irrational moods, random feelings, and surges of debilitating apathy control you.

The result, unfortunately, is that you don't have enough money, and because you don't have enough to meet all your needs, you are not able to expand your life and express yourself in the way you really desire. You short yourself of the materials necessary to expand your consciousness, including getting better food and lodging, transportation, health care, exercise or education.

Since you resist money because it is the source of pain, you end up with money problems. Thus, in an attempt to avoid pain, you also avoid money. All this, of course, is happening at a level below conscious awareness. It is not a logical way of thinking, but, then again, logic is not the domain of the subconscious mind. It's chief concern is to help you survive--even if this means depriving you of money

Working on these three areas of emotional pain alone will do a tremendous amount to boost your income and give you a larger life. Of course, there may be other areas, depending on your personal history. However, you will only find out once you embark on a journey of personal self-discovery. You cannot heal emotional wounds that you are not yet aware of.

When you have no resistance, when making and spending money is joyful, then you will open the floodgates to bringing in a lot more money into your life.

When you clear your subconscious mind of the emotional pain associated with money, you give it permission to start making the law of attraction work for you to bring a lot more wealth into your life.

Abundance exists in our world. Walk around any big city and you will notice that you are surrounded by billions of dollars worth of real estate, vehicles, and other expressions of money. There is plenty of money, and if you feel that you can't get your hands on a larger section of the pie, it is because of some level of inner resistance.

At any point in time, you can learn a better trade, apply for a better job, or come up with a unique money-making service. If all of this seems too difficult, it is not because there is a shortage of opportunity, but because something is draining your joy around having more, being more, and experiencing more from your life.

Does money make you happy? Perhaps it does, perhaps it makes no difference. It all depends on who you are. However, when you feel happy, you will make more money. Why? Because you will communicate more, be more self-expressive and giving, serve others out of the sheer joy of it, and have more creative ideas and insights about the nature of social contribution.

What, then, is the inner block that keeps you from a joyful, abundant life, rich in contribution to yourself and the world? What is it that keeps you from feeling happy right now and seizing wonderfully uplifting money-making opportunities? It is pain, emotional pain residing in your subconscious mind. Pain that arose due to a negative experience in the past associated with money. Pain that can be eradicated with some inner work.

Life is all about choices. You can choose to heal your money wounds and move to a prosperous and deeply fulfilling life at any moment. Once you set that decision in motion, the way to fulfill your dreams will unravel itself.

Good Times at The Good Life: Blogtipping Day!

Over at Business Blog Wire, Easton Ellsworth is celebrating the one year anniversary of Blogtipping, so to celebrate with him, I thought I’d do some blogtipping over here at The Good Life. It’s been awhile since I’ve visited some of my favorite blogs, so I closed my eyes and picked three blogs at random…

Let the blogtipping begin!

My Agapic Life
  • I love the subtitle to the blog: “Writing about love”. Who doesn’t want to read about love, right?!
  • Humor always saves the day and I like that Tim is able to squeeze in a few humorous anecdotes
  • I like the clean and organized layout of the blog
Tip: Offer some way for people to easily subscribe to the blog, like an RSS feed button

  • I like the pictures of the dogs! I guess I would have to be a terrier at heart because I love to take on dogs ten times my size ;)
  • I love that I can learn something new in every post…
  • Less B.S. is always good!
Tip: Perhaps a picture of you would establish more of a connection. I like to see who I’m communicating with ;)

Evolving Times
  • I am instantly inspired after reading every post ;)
  • I like the layout and how easy it is to find information
Tip: Once in a blue moon, throw in a picture or two!

Well, that concludes this edition of Good Life blogtipping! Until next month…

P.S. If you have blogtipped me, leave a comment…and if you don’t have a blog but have any suggestions or comments about this blog, let me know as well!
