"Now, you can carry these feelings through your normal everyday activities. Everyday can be a vacation day. Wish the same for your fellow Vibers. Know to that you can also start doing and experiencing more of the activities that trigger this state for you. Travel more. Relax more. Play more. Enjoy yourself..."

And speaking of vacation...I've been hanging out in a historial city this past week - my first time here so I'm enjoying it! Can you guess what city it is from this picture?

Here are a couple things I've done on this vacation:
  • Went to the museum and learned about Charles Darwin's life.
  • Laughed ALOT!
  • Played video games until 4:30 in the morning
  • Enjoyed taking pictures of all the city buildings
  • Slept in until noon
Live the Good Life! You can do it too!

This Week in Good Life History and Summer Readings

Once in awhile I like to look back and see what I was thinking and writing about. The Good Life is on its second year and I've grown and learned soo much these past two years. So, please join me as we take a look back...
  • Food For Success - this article I actually didn't write, but it's definitely a reminder that little steps add up to a lot in the end!
  • You Can Achieve Anything - again, I didn't write this article, but looking back I see that I was definitely attracting some good information back then ;)
  • Seven Keys to a Happy Life - Another spectacular and motivating article...that I didn't write.
Oh, well, I guess I didn't do much writing two years ago, but I can see now that I was starting to open myself up to goodness and abundance! Prior to this I didn't do much reading about success or abundance. However, I am a total bookworm - but before I started attracting these types of articles and books into my life, I was reading quite a bit of fiction versus self-help books.

And speaking of books...it's summertime and I have a list of books to read! Here's my list:
What are you reading this summer? Any books to recommend?

Are You Prepared For the Next Step to Prosperity?

Are you ready for more prosperity? I know I am. Last Friday night I was sitting here in front of my computer wondering how I could start making a boatload of money with my online businesses - not just a lot of money like I’m doing right now - but a boatload of money. Oh, don’t get me wrong. I’m so grateful for the money I’m making now, but doesn’t a boatload of money sound nicer?

As I sat here, a thought came to my mind. “Well, if you keep on doing what you’re doing, you’re going to keep getting what you’re getting…” I believe I heard that from The Secret.

I went back to writing and later on as I was browsing the ‘net, I stumbled upon a review for an ebook that came out last year titled Affiliate Project X. The book was calling me…so I bought it. It was just what I needed to get my adrenaline pumping again. I now have renewed energy…

However, that little voice of “doubt” crept up…It said, “Well, if you don’t do those other things, then you won’t have money coming in…” Then another voice came in much louder, “But if you go back to doing that you’ll be making the same amount of money you did last month, so why not step it up a notch?”

Then, this morning I read this post, Ask for Guidance, where the perfect affirmation came: “I am prepared for the next step in my path to prosperity. Show me the path I am supposed to be on and help me find the way.”

That’s just what I needed to read today…The Universe is Awesome!

What about you? Have you been caught in a rut like me and want to take your income and prosperity to the next level? What are you doing about it?

P.S. I just created a new lens over at Squidoo called "Finding Happiness". Check it out and let me know what you think! Also, if you could do me a huge favor...if you are a Squidoo lensmaster, please give this lens a rating! I invite you to join Squidoo and share your knowledge!

Blogging, Customer Service and My Purpose

"Blogging has become the medium by which I fulfill my purpose in life..."

Dio over at Fine Art of Blogging recently asked me if I would contribute to a project that he's doing about blogging. Many people are sharing their thoughts and experiences about blogging and why they blog and I have shared my blogging journey with his readers...

If you're a blogger, I'd like to know why you blog. Leave a comment below! If blogging is something that has piqued your interest and you want to learn more, I recommend checking out some of the blogging resources I provide over at the Online Business Resources blog. (Left hand column)

And speaking of purpose in life, I had an Ah-Ha! moment regarding my customer service blog today. I haven't been blogging over there as much as I used to - simply because I've been so busy with writing. I'm currently working on a book for people who want to start an online business. Plus other writing projects with clients have taken up time as well. Hey, no complaints from me! I'm thankful for all the Good that's coming in.

Anyhow, back to my customer service blog...I've been thinking about closing that chapter in my life, but I realize that there is so much work to do in terms of helping people become better at interacting and communicating with other people. Customer service is all about relationships and helping people, but as you may have noticed, customer service seems to be declining. Many people are unhappy in their jobs and many people are too focused on the $$. Not saying that focusing on money is a bad thing (because essentially that's how you attract money!). However, many people in business sacrifice people in their pursuit of money.

I've taken a completely different perspective about what my purpose is in blogging about customer service. Everything we do in life really and truly is about helping people. Now I know that I must help people discover their own purpose in life and to be truly happy and passionate about what they do.

By the way, I currently host the Carnivale of Customer Service twice month. However, this coming Monday Carolyn Manning of ProductivityGoal has so graciously volunteered to host it at her blog. If you would like to help others become better Helpers in life, send over your link to Carolyn right now or you can email it to me at maria [at] salondemaria [dot] info and I'll make sure she gets it!

Going From a Mindset of Lack to a Mindset of Abundance

I was talking to a friend yesterday who was telling me about how she has started a new business. This business is called ACN and she just came back from Detroit, Michigan where she met many more people associated with this business opportunity. Naturally, she asked me if I was interested in joining up, which I am, but need to do further research on the company. (By the way…I will be doing a review of ACN over at Online Business Resources tomorrow - stay tuned…)

So anyways, my friend is telling me about how someone else she knows who started ACN with her. This other person has already signed up people below her and yet, my friend is still “struggling” to get people to sign up under her.

How can my friend change her mindset and perspective about this situation? How does one go from a mindset of lack to a mindset of abundance? This is the advice I gave her:

1. Change your vocabulary. Take the word “struggle” out of your vocabulary. Never use it again! Struggle means you’re forcing something to work or that you’re trying too hard. By the way, “try” is another word to take out of the vocabulary. When you “struggle” or “try” you’re actually blocking off the good energy that should be coming to you. Think of Yoda when he said, “Do, or do not. There is not ‘try.’” When you want to do something, you make a conscious decision to just do it. After that, just enjoy the journey! Let "The Force be with you"!

2. Stop worrying about what other people are doing and focus on what you’re doing. I gave my friend the perfect example of her very artistic daughter Emma who loves her art supplies. However, when it comes to Emma sharing her crayons or markers with her sisters, Emma tends to pay more attention to what her sisters are doing with her supplies instead of focusing and having fun doing her own art.

I also learned this with my own jewelry business. When I used to sell at the swap meet in San Diego, I was always more concerned with the other jewelry vendors and how many people were in front of their booths instead of focusing on the customers who were right in front of me probably ready to make a purchase!

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Review

What is success? Last year I wrote about ten secrets to my success. Although what I wrote back then is still part of my values, I realize now that there’s so much more to success than what I previously thought. After reading the book and watching the movie, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, my eyes have been opened to a different perspective – a more spiritual perspective on achieving success in life.

In the movie, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, we are given the opportunity to discover the journey that Olivia Newton-John went on to discover her own spirituality. It’s good to know that she’s still creating beautiful music! We also see others tell their own stories of success and how they’ve put these laws to work for them.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Movie
So, what are these laws of success?

1. The Law of Pure Potentiality
2. The Law of Giving and Receiving
3. The Law of Karma
4. The Law of Least Effort
5. The Law of Intention and Desire
6. The Law of Detachment
7. The Law of Dharma

Since reading the book and watching the movie I’ve discovered how easy it truly is to manifest what you desire. In regards to #4, The Law of Least Effort, I am now beginning to understand that when you “try” too hard to make something happen, you are actually pushing it farther away from you. I’m learning to just RELAX and let things come to me. That’s not to say that I don’t do anything at all. I still continue to do what I love to do, but I’m not so concerned about the money aspect of it. I know that if I just do it from a state of love, everything else will just fall into place. It’s happening already ;)

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is a definite read or must-see! And if you’re ever here in San Diego, you may want to check out the Chopra Center at La Costa Resort & Spa * 2013 Costa Del Mar Road * Carlsbad, CA 92009

Spreading Good Vibrations

Today is a vibin’ good Monday! Well, actually every day is a good vibe day, but today…today is an extra special good vibe day because I’ve been tagged by Belle of Abundance Journal and Kammie over at Passion Meets Purpose for this latest blog meme that has been vibin’ all across the photosphere. Special shout out to Cardin Routh of OptimistLab who started this High Vibes Game. Love it!

Here is what I do to raise my vibes...

1. The first thing I do when I wake up is say “Thank you!” Thank You for another gorgeous day in California and Thank You for the bed that I sleep in. I immediately feel my energy rise as I say these two words and just smile because I have another day to make a difference in the world ;)

2. Meditate - I meditate every morning and night to clear my mind and invite good energy into my body. I also meditate whenever I start to feel tense or overwhelmed by the amount of things that I need to do. However, just like Kammie, I’m learning how to “surrender” and just let go of that need to accomplish so many things in one day!

3. Go for a walk. Whenever I feel like I’m going through a “writer’s block”, I go for a walk around the neighborhood with my dog. I always try to stay in tune with nature and see all the blessings that surround me. I think of those people who aren’t so fortunate to hear birds chirping and I send them blessings…

4. Spend time with kids. I don’t have any kids of my own, so I spend time with my best friend’s three little girls. Their jubilant energy definitely rubs off on me. There’s no such thing as a low energy activity with them! Likewise, I get the same good energy whenever I’m playing chase with my dog. He always reminds me when it’s time to play chase!

5. Paint or make jewelry. Whenever I’m using Creative Source Energy, I always feel good. I’m able to just relax…get “lost” in the moment and enjoy the creativity flowing through me.

So, now it’s my turn to high vibe five other bloggers who inspire me…

My First YouTube Video: Prosperity Affirmations and Visualization Tool

Drum roll, please!

I'm happy to present to you my very first YouTube video. It was only a few weeks ago that I asked The Universe, "How can I make a YouTube video?" I thought I needed all this fancy-schmansy video software and gadgets. Little did I know that my computer already had the software to create videos!! (Windows Movie Maker)

With a little help of Google search, I found some tutorials on movie making...and voila!

So, here it, is...enjoy! I'd love your feedback on it, so leave a comment here or over at YouTube :)

P.S. If you have subscribed to this blog via email or RSS feed, you can click here to watch the video...

Tips on Cultivating an Attitude of Gratitude

“An attitude of gratitude” is something that was repeated in my mind as I worked this week. There’s been much talk these days about creating a prosperous mindset and being successful in our careers, but I think that if one is to be truly successful and have more of that abundance flowing into our lives, we must be grateful for what we have right now.

What’s the first thing you say to yourself when you wake up in the morning? When I wake up, I say, “Thank you, God, for this beautiful day!” This very simple, albeit powerful, sentence puts you in a very positive frame of mind.

So, how do you create a habit of being grateful everyday?

Keep a gratitude journal. When I was in college I kept a journal in which I wrote down five things that I was grateful for every day. I stopped writing down what I am grateful for, but as I go throughout my day, I take mental note of the things that I do have that many people in this world do not have.

When you start to feel down and out about life or your work, stop, take a deep breath and look around. I’m sure you can find one thing to be thankful for. Maybe you could be thankful for the computer you’re working on or that snack you so easily purchased in the vending machine.

Even when you’re faced with huge obstacles or something tragic has happened in your life, it’s important to be grateful for the lessons that come from these events because without them, we can’t learn and grow.

"Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.
"-- Margaret Cousins
