Are You a Little Engine?

Priscilla Palmer has a noteworthy post titled "I Can't Sman't" over at her blog which covers the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction is something I wholeheartedly believe in and I see it in action every moment of my life. If you've read this blog for awhile, you know that I've talked about it here quite a few times before.

Just like Priscilla, I cringe when I hear the word "can't". However, that's not to say that I haven't slipped up and said the word myself. For example, one day I was watching my friend's little three-year-old put together a puzzle made of wood blocks. Well, after he finished putting the snail puzzle together, he told me that he wanted to stand it up.

"I don't know if it will stand up. You can't do it. The puzzle will fall apart."

Certainly not something you say to a child, but nonetheless, I said it without giving any thought to the actual words. How dare I say that!

Well, five minutes later...The snail is standing up! That'll show me!!

Can you count how many times you've said the word can't? Well, it's time to take that word out of your vocabulary! You're setting yourself up for failure if you say it!

Right before I started writing up this post I was eating lunch and staring outside the window. Oh, it's a beautiful day! It's a clear blue sky and I could see the birds fluttering around from tree to tree. A gentle breeze blew the leaves of the palm trees....and I looked up into the sky and had this zen moment. I thought about how big The Universe is - much bigger than I was probably imagining - but big nonetheless. I also thought about all the possibilities out there...endless possibilities. Anything can happen at any given moment of the day.The Little Engine That Could

So, when you say the word "can't", you are in essence shutting off all those possibilities! If you need a little refresher on this, I highly recommend reading that old childhood classic, The Little Engine That Could!

Attracting Money, Wealth, and Prosperity

Attract MoneyMoney is a force. It is a concentrated symbol of energy and power in life. Like all forces in the universe, money obeys certain universal laws or principles.

By understanding those laws and acting appropriately, we gain a great power over money, enabling wealth and prosperity to come our way.

Most of us are aware of the importance of hard work, determination, and drive to attract money. However, there are also other, more hidden and subtle ways to attract money, wealth, and prosperity.

When followed, these methods have a tendency to instantly attract money from seemingly out of nowhere, defying our normal notions of cause and effect, and what is logical and possible. Such sudden and abundant results are indications of the wondrous phenomenon of "life response" at work.

So how does this work? Well, I recently signed up for this six-part mini e-course through Low-Stress Income and learned some powerful ways to attract money instantly. I recommend it!

The Fruit of Patience

Patience Quote Art by Maria PalmaOh, yes, the fruit of patience is so sweet!

On Sundays I like to spend a little time playing around with the designs and layouts of my blogs. I've been putting off working on my personal blog, Salon de Maria, because it's with Movable Type and I'm not really that familiar with it. Procrastination, I know.

However, today I decided to meet the challenge and figure out how I could add a sidebar to my archive pages. Now, mind you, I'm fairly fluent with HTML, but PHP, XML, and all those other three-letter things I try to stay away from. After hours of searching and on the brink of losing my patience, I finally discovered the solution I needed via the Learning Movable Type Blog (Thank you!!)

After that discovery, well, I can't tell you how happy I was to finally have that blog in a more presentable fashion. It doesn't take much to make me happy ;)

And so it goes with everything else in life - especially the journey to wealth, prosperity, and abundance. All you need is just a little bit of patience!

Steve Pavlina's Idea of an Abundance Mindset

I had a discussion with a friend about my dream car, the Audi A8, and I was talking about how much it would cost - just a little bit over $100K. My friend says to me, "That's a little too much to be spending on a car, don't you think?" For a brief second I had second thoughts about my dream car. Would I really be spending too much? I could buy three other cars for the amount I would spend on that A8...

Then I had to stop myself. What am I thinking? That's my dream car! By the time I actually go out and buy it, I'll have so much money that spending $100K won't even be such a big deal.

Needless to say I erased that conversation out of my head - of course, until now - just so I could illustrate a point. And the point is...Do not fall back into scarcity thinking!

Steve Pavlina explains this in detail in a recent post titled The Abundance Mindset. This is a great read for those of you who think rich people "waste" money on unnecessary things. I admit that I was one of those women who used to think that spending $20,000 on a Hermes handbag was absolutely ridiculous, but the more time I spent blogging over at TheRunwayScoop, I gained a different perspective on the mindset that affluent women have.

Look at it this way, I truly believe that God (The Universe, Allah, Buddah, or whatever name you want to call the Infinite Source) wants us to have the absolute best that money can buy. There is an Infinite supply of everything and spending $100K on a car isn't robbing someone else of money. In fact, it's spreading money around to all those people who built the car and the people who sell the car. We're also paying people who came out with a great design (because yes, that Audi A8 has a great design!)

Visualization Techniques, Exercises, and Vision Boards

During my plane ride home from Chicago, I read a book titled Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain. This book shares different methods and exercises to help one get hold of that imagination that many of us have forgotten. Remember when you played pretend when you were young? I know I liked to pretend that I was Wonder Woman and had these powerful forces (if I only knew then what I know now!) Creative Visualization covers much of what I’ve preached here before…like writing down affirmations and outflowing. Here’s a snippet from the book:

“The process of change does not occur on superficial levels, through mere “positive thinking”. It involves exploring, discovering, and changing our deepest, most basic attitudes of life. That is why learning to use creative visualization can become an experience of deep and meaningful growth. In the process we often discover ways in which we have been holding ourselves back, blocking ourselves from achieving satisfaction and fulfillment in our lives through our fears and unconscious beliefs. Once seen clearly, these limiting attitudes can often be dissolved through the creative visualization process…”

One of the methods taught in the book is making a “treasure map” which is similar to a vision board. Here’s a little sample of my own personal visualization board:

Vision Board
I recently discovered this software that you can use to create these virtual vision boards on your computer. For someone like me who works on the computer constantly, then I think this would also be a good tool to have.

How are you visualizing?

A Journey From Negativity to Positivity

At one point in my life I was physically and mentally abused by someone I thought had loved me. I was in my early 20’s and clearly remember sitting in the corner of my kitchen crawled up in the fetus position crying for my mom. (By the way, my mother passed away when I was 14) For one brief moment I thought about suicide… I don’t remember anything that happened after that moment, but it took many years to get out of that relationship and it took even longer for me to become the positive person that I am today.

Something must have clicked for me that day I was sobbing on the floor of the kitchen. A spark of positive energy - a glimpse of a brighter future - something told me that this too, shall pass.

Like I said, it took many years to gain this very positive outlook on life that I have now. I now see no other way than to think positive! But believe me, it was quite a journey going from being a person who abused alcohol and drugs, was cynical, and just plain unhappy to being the person that I am today.

I reclaimed my power during my senior year in college when I started keeping a scrapbook of beautiful images that inspired me and wrote down my feelings through poetry. I came to discover the beauty in everything and realized that for every setback, obstacle, or tragedy that happens in our lives, something positive comes from it. I know, it may be hard to actually think something positive will come from a negative situation, but trust me, there’s always a lesson to be learned.

The Good Life Is...Weekend Readings

It's the weekend and I love to explore all the abundant resources and informative blogs out there that will help me on this journey through life...

My first discovery this weekend was Confident Writing, a blog written by Joanna Young. For those of you who have a blog or simply love to write, Joanna provides some great tips and helps you find your own unique voice in the world. I learned about Joanna when she left a comment at a post I wrote over at Talking Story titled Hospitality: The Key to Peace on Earth.

Another great writer I discovered over at Talking Story is Lisa Haneberg, the author of Two Weeks to a Breakthrough: How to Zoom Toward Your Goal in 14 Days or Less (adding it to the summer reading list!) Lisa shares a great exercise to get you thinking about pursuing your passions.

For those of you who want to take your online business to the next level, you may be inspired after reading Alicia Forest's ebook, 5 Keys to Wild Abundance in Your Business (free download). And speaking of online business, if you've always dreamed of starting your own online business, you may want to read my special announcement over at Online Business Resources!

Free Ebook: I Create Millions

I was going through my ebook library tonight and rediscovered an ebook that was written by Christopher Westra. It's titled "I Create Millions: How You Can Manifest Your Millions with 87 Specific Money Mastery Methods" (free download version). Some of the methods that I've used include:

#6 - The Money Downpour Visualization
#10 - Create Money Opportunities, Not Money Emergencies
#14 - Improve Your Money Talk
#15 - Be Happy First, Right Now!
#63 - Thing Big, Dream Bigger

I Create Millions by Christopher WestraAnd speaking of manifesting money...this month I've been using the affirmation "Money flows to me easily and effortlessly" and yesterday when I returned from vacation, I received a letter saying that I have a check from an old 401K account waiting to be claimed. When I worked at Nordstrom I had this 401K/Profit sharing account. When I left the company, I thought I had cashed out all the money, but for whatever reason there was still money for me!

What methods are you using to manifest money into your life?
