Can You Actually Make Money Doing That?

I was talking with a friend the other day about how I wanted to transition from doing copywriting and social media back to making jewelry and having that jewelry business be my main source of income.

"Yeah, but can you actually make money doing that?" my friend asked.

"Of course," I answered. "There are so many people doing it."

That shut her up quick.

I know I shouldn't have read too much into that question, but it made me wonder if my friend was thinking that I wasn't capable of relaunching my jewelry business and making it successful. She saw me struggle with it before, but that was before I knew about the Law of Attraction and how to develop an abundance mindset.

What I think, though, is that my friend still has yet to realize that you can make money doing absolutely anything you want to - within reason. If you wanted to sell soap made out of dog doo-doo, there's a chance that might not work. But then again, what do I know? There might be a few villages out there in the world that might enjoy soap that smells like sh*t.

I am grateful that my friend asked me that question because it did bring up some old limiting beliefs that were in the back of my mind because of past experience. It made me aware of what I needed to do get rid of those old beliefs and to create a brand new reality for my business.

I remember when I started telling people that I was a professional blogger. They had no idea what I was talking about and they sure didn't think I could make money doing it. I had people pushing me to get a "real job". Seven years later and I still have people ask me, "What is it that you do again?" I sometimes feel like Tommy on that old 90's sitcom "Martin" with Martin Lawrence. Nobody seemed to know what exactly Tommy did for a living.

If you've ever started a business, were there people in your life who doubted the possibilities of making money from that business?
