Book Review: Sound Health, Sound Wealth

Sound Wealth, Sound Health book coverWhen many of us think of the word “wealth” we think of money, big houses, fancy cars, and the type of lifestyle led by celebrities and dignitaries. But did you know that wealth can also mean having fulfilling relationships, being happy, and having sound health? Luanne Oakes helps us explore and discover our own definition of wealth in her book, Sound Health Sound Wealth: The Biology of Hope and Manifestation.

Through her life experiences and examples, Luanne offers tips and exercises so that we can make our lives better every day in every way. I learned such things as the Principle of Resonance which is “perfect oneness with the Source of All Creation” and the concept of Future Memories which are goals and dreams that you experience through your Body, Mind, and Spirit.

Much of what I read in the book was nothing new to me in regards to the concepts of “thoughts become things” and “living in the moment”, however, there was a part of the book that fascinated me where the author talks about sound and light and how they provide a path to healing our bodies. Sound Health, Sound Wealth will really make you think about the subtleties of life and how everything that you think and everything that happens to you affects you at the cellular level.

What I Like About Sound Health, Sound Wealth

My favorite chapter of the book was chapter five where the author talks about The Principle of Transforming Time. I often think about time and how the concept came about. Many of us complain that there is never any time to do anything or there just isn’t enough time in the day to accomplish our goals.

I like this line from chapter five:
“When you Make a Decision and intend to change your relationship with time, it is increasingly possible to string transcendent moments together like a beautiful and exotic strand of pearls.”
What’s fascinating to me is that our perception of time changes at any given moment of the day. When you’re doing something you love time appears to go by fast and then when you’re doing something you dread (like being in a job you hate!) time seems to go by soooo slow.

Many of us are in such a rush to get where we want to be that we believe that isn’t any time to do anything. We believe that we need to accomplish all these things in order to be successful, so quantity takes precedence over quality. However, if you change the “there’s no time” belief into a “there’s plenty of time” belief, you’ll start to discover that there is indeed time to do everything that you want to do.

True Wealth quoteBook Bonus:

Sound Health, Sound Wealth comes with a Frequency Treatment CD that helps you get into a more relaxed mood. I like to listen to it while I’m cleaning the house or taking a little snooze in the middle of the day.

Thumbs Up!

Would I recommend reading Sound Health, Sound Wealth? Definitely! It’s not your typical self-help book. This book will really make you delve deeper into the recesses of your mind and think more about life on a metaphysical level. It will make you realize what true wealth is!

The Journey Inward: A Book Review of "High Way From Hell" by Moonstone Star White

High Way From Hell by Moonstone Star WhiteIt was almost ten years ago that I was "awakened" to discover the real me. As I continue on this spiritual journey many books have been laid out on the path for me. Recently a book titled High Way from Hell: Using Emotion to Fan the Fire of Enlightment by Moonstone Star White came my way which led me on an adventure deeper into my spirit.

Like many self-help books I've read, this books talks about being in the now, the law of attraction, releasing yourself from judgment, and being in touch with your feelings. However, this book gave me the exercises I needed to dig deep into my subconscious and pull out all the guck and ickiness that was buried. My body literally went into shock and I was in bed sick for three days while I was reading this book. To me that was a sign that the book was helping me heal all those negative emotions that I had suppressed for so many years - feelings I thought I had gotten rid of.

The big takeaway from this book is that the path to enlightenment begins with you and Moonstone Star White has an uncanny way of guiding you to the real you. Here's an excerpt from one of the chapters titled "Finding Your Niche in a World with One Mission" that sums up this book for me:
"Personal growth and spiritual healing is the first and most important step anyone can take toward healing the problems of the world. It begins by examining, without judging and in an impeccably honest way, the contents of your own heart. You must know yourself deeply and profoundly. From there it is a matter of seeing opportunities to help others as the opportunities present themselves and as you are able to act on them. This is the seed of the mission each person is born into the world with. The path to personal growth and fulfillments is the only path that truly helps others in anything more than a superficial way. Paradoxically and in a symbiotic way, only by helping others can we find lasting peace and fulfillment, but the journey inward must come first."

Book Review: 10 Ways to Make It Great

10 Ways To Make It Great by Phil GerbyshakThere are many self-development books on the market, but how many of them actually inspire you to take action? Some of us gobble up books left and right searching and searching for that one book that is going to make life that much better. I know, I've been that person. However, little do we know that we need to apply what we've read and take action.

I recently read Phil Gerbyshak's book, 10 Ways to Make It Great, which you may recall was on the summer reading list. I first met Phil through Customers Are Always and he has been instrumental to the success of that blog. A week doesn't go by that I don't receive an email from Phil letting me know about some interesting customer service articles. His energy is pretty contagious!

Why I Like 10 Ways to Make It Great
Not only is it a book that will teach you exactly how to create a better life for yourself, it's also a workbook wherein you can write down your own plans for your life. Most people read self-development books without really giving much thought to the lessons to be learned. This book forces you to stop and think, Ok, what is really important to me? What can I do right now to happier and more productive?

I especially like Chapter 7: Dream Big Dreams, Do Big Things! Phil suggests setting up a dream room or a place you can go to just get away and think. For me, that dream room would be my bedroom. Every morning when I wake up, I look at my vision board which is right beside my bed. I dream about the life I'm going to live at the same time being grateful for what I have right now.

In Chapter 7 Phil asks us to write down our first Big Dream. Here is what I wrote down:
A gorgeous peaceful mansion in Rancho Santa Fe with lush landscaping, a space for studios so that Cory and I can create all day. We would both work from home and travel the world helping others live a more inspired life.
Needless to say, I highly recommend reading 10 Ways to Make It Great if you sincerely want to live each and every day with inspiration. This book is exactly what I needed to keep moving forward with my goals! Thanks, Phil!
